Level-up is focused on meeting the unique needs of middle school students in order to facilitate a smooth transition to high school. The program implements a holistic approach to meeting student’s individual academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. Through social-emotional learning, direct academic instruction and practical application of skills in their community, students are provided with the tools to be successful in and out of the classroom.



When: July 7, 2020 through August 13, 2020.
Weeks 1-6: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, 9:00 am to 2:45 pm

Program Fees: $930.00

  • Deposit of 50% due at registration, with the remaining balance due Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
  • Partial scholarships are available. Deadline for applications is June 24, 2020.
  • 10% discount for each additional child in the family.
  • 20% processing fee to withdraw.

Level Up students will participate in a variety of activities that address both academic and social emotional needs. Through social emotional learning, direct academic instruction, small group and partner work, and practical application of skills in their community, students are provided with the tools to be successful in and out of the classroom. Below is a summary of some the activities students will engage in throughout the summer.


  • Students will read, Survive of Savage Sea
  • Students will be exposed to informational non-fiction text through NewsELA
  • Students will be exposed to fictional text through an adapted form of Robinson Cruse
  • Students will be exposed to mythological text through research of Greek Gods
    • Students will create a shield depicting symbols and present
  • Students will be exposed to biography research through a self-selected piece
  • (ACE) writing strategies will be implemented: answer, site, explain


  • Students will learn about the following geometry terms: perimeter, area, volume
  • Students will receive instruction on solving equations using decimals, fractions, equivalent fractions/ratios, and ordering fractions/decimals
  • Through Prodigy Math, students will be taught numeration/number sense, measurement, patterning and simple algebra


Social Emotional Learning

  • The Positivity Project will be utilized - a different character trait per day will be discussed
  • Students will engage in a variety of stories and games to build teamwork
  • Mindfulness and yoga activities will be embedded to facilitate self-regulation and provide instruction in coping strategies

Weekly field trips will reinforce skills and concepts learned during the week.
